Course length: 8 Weeks
Text: Weekend Novelist: Novel Writing Program
by Robert J. Ray
Mentor: Priscilla Fagan
This highly flexible program is designed for writers with busy schedules,
or for those that work best with predefined schedules and checkpoints.
At the completion of the course, you will have a completed novel, revised
and ready for market. Weekend Novelist is a great follow-up for those
who have completed other fiction writing courses and are ready to get
down to business. Those who have finished NaMoWriMo, or found it too
rushed will benefit from this program. Start from scratch, or rework
a rough draft.
Write your novel scene at a time on weekends (or any other designated
time). Although this is an preparatory 8-weeks crash course, the workshop
runs until your novel is finished and ready for market. In the beginning,
The Weekend Novelist covers the basics of character, scene, and plot,
then turning the focus toward the classic Aristotelian three-act dramatic
structure of the novel with examples from well-known works. The workshop
will have check points during the writing process and special section
on revising your novel later in the year.
