"...thrown together on this island of living, we stretch to understand each other and are invigorated by the stretching....I must remember to see with island eyes."

--Anne Morrow Lindbergh in "Gift from the Sea"

Hello! My name is Kaye Pierce and I join you from eleven wooded acres in Southeastern Indiana. Our household includes me, my husband of many years, our two sons, two dogs, and one cat in a home we built ourselves. We have a married daughter and one gorgeous grand-girl. Hobbies? I read, garden, camp, and play a mean game of Scrabble. Central to my existence is my Christian faith, which I push on no one, and I attend no church regularly. This may seem a paradox or hypocrisy, but it's my truth.

I've loved to write since early childhood, growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After longing to commit extended time to writing for years, I began taking steps toward that goal in 1999. Before that shift in focus, I worked a variety of jobs. Waited tables, cooked, sold real estate, clerked, and managed an office. Most of my employment time was spent as a medical secretary. For now, my husband financially supports my writing habit, but since signing up with WVU I have gotten published and hope to continue the trend!

Before becoming a member, I took F2K. I learned enough to know I had a lot to learn! Like many, I plan to continue learning about my chosen craft for the rest of my life. It will hone my writing skills, but even more important, it's fun! At WVU, I facilitate "Writing from the Heart" and participate as a site guide. I hope to give back to other members of WVU some of the knowledge and support I've received by taking part in this village of warm, intelligent people on-line. On this island we offer encouragement, guidance, and honest feedback to all writers, as well as a safe harbor to rest from the storms encountered while sailing toward your chosen destination. Writing can be lonely work. You can share your triumphs and trials here whenever you want. WVU is never more than a mouse click away.

I want to welcome all who choose to join us. Your contribution to WVU is important and vital to our continued existence and growth. Here, we lean on and learn from one another.
If I can assist you as you get familiar with the site, please give me a holler.
